Serious about safety, so kids can be serious about fun
Behind every cannonball and Color War is a licensed, organized operation. Here's exactly how we protect your camper — stated plainly, because you deserve plain answers.
Is the camp licensed?
Yes. Denver Jewish Day Camp is licensed by the State of Colorado Department of Early Childhood as a youth camp, meeting state health, safety and program-quality standards.
Security on campus
- Constant armed security at camp grounds every day
- Radio contact between all staff throughout the day
- Areas scouted and cleared by the security team before campers enter
- Additional security measures are intentionally kept out of public view — parents are welcome to inquire directly for details.
Health & medical care
Medication sent to camp must be clearly marked with the camper's name and accompanied by a signed note with dosage instructions — the camp nurse administers all medication.
In the water
Every swim and water activity is supervised by certified American Red Cross lifeguards and water-safety instructors. Campers swim in small groups placed by comfort and ability, counselors monitor each camper's progress, and everyone wears the camp rash guard in the water.
On trips
- • Trip locations are chosen for their track record of child safety
- • Campers wear camp t-shirts and ID wristbands with camp information
- • Attendance is taken regularly throughout the day
- • Trips are matched to each division's age
Food & allergies
Nut-free camp. No nuts, shellfish, or meat from home — dairy and (non-shellfish) fish are great options. All camp-provided lunches and snacks are nut-free. Tell us about your child's allergies and we'll work with you to accommodate their needs.

Absences: please call the day before if you know your child won't attend camp, or by 9:00 AM for unexpected absences — 720-774-1235.
